"O Brother, where Art thou?"

We love to help clients get started building an art collection that is all about their taste.  Every home can have an original piece of art - there are so many artists in every price range selling and exhibiting fine work.  Don't be afraid to buy what you like – art is one of the easiest ways to let your personality shine without making a huge commitment.

Begin to look at art online to get a feel for what you like:  20x200.com sells interesting pieces for as little as $20 and  etsy.com has pieces for as little as $12.  Start by buying a piece online, spend a little to frame it, and instantly you have started an art collection.
Visit a gallery.  The SFMOMA Artists Gallery at Fort Mason  sfmoma.org/visit/artists_gallery is a casual and not intimidating space to view art in all price ranges.  Try Rayko for photography  raykophoto.com, and Hosfelt Gallery  hosfeltgallery.com and Braunstein/Quay Gallery bquayartgallery.com for a step up in commitment.

As has been repeated often, group smaller pieces together in one place to make a collection;  group family pictures together as well, such as along a stairwell.  Don't worry about matching a room’s décor, buy slowly, put each piece on the wall and voila!
